Get to know Amy
Animals have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My dad had a hobby farm with sheep, goats, chickens, horses, even donkeys! He later added more exotic animals and opened his land to the public as a small zoo. I grew up with baby cougars and bobcats racing around our living room. Tamed raccoons would occasionally come in for a house visit, opening up kitchen cabinets to explore. I got to hang out with animals of every shape and size from skunks to cougars! When I was a teenager, my dad bought a pet store and started to focus more on breeding dogs and less on the exotic animals. At one point we had 40+ dogs - Pomeranians, Cockers, Lhasas, German Shepherds, Shelties, Samoyeds, Huskies, and more. Needless to say, I got plenty of experience handling dogs!
My love for animals has continued into my adulthood. I've shared my home with rabbits, chinchillas, birds, cats, and many dogs. So a career working with animals has always been the obvious choice for me. Pet grooming sounded like the perfect combination of creativity and cuddling. Back in 1996 I found a certified master groomer in Minneapolis who did training. I spent a summer working full time with her until she felt that I had mastered all the various styles. I went back home to Wausau, WI where I opened my first grooming shop in the back of my dad's pet store. When I outgrew that space, I moved to a larger commercial space in town where I worked for about 5 years. I closed that business when my first child was born and we moved to Marshfield, WI. I didn't waste any time getting back to work though. Within a few months I was up and running with a grooming shop attached to our house. I groomed in Marshfield for about 8 years before I closed down to homeschool my two children. That was a tough decision because I knew how much I would miss working with the dogs, but I also knew I could go back to it someday.
Well, someday has arrived and I'm back to it!
Over the years that I focused on educating my kids, I also learned a lot about living naturally. I learned to make most of my cleaning and skin care products from all natural ingredients and found that these homemade products work better than anything commercially made! So it seemed logical to expand my products to include dog skin care. I've experimented on my own dogs until I found the perfect formulas. Now I'm excited to share these products with the public
and to be back at work spiffing up dogs and making them look, feel, and smell awesome!
